For Subsidiary
Parent of American Employers Group demands American Employment Group
cease and desist use of name
SAN FRANCISCO, November 4, 2002 -- Applied Underwriters Inc., the
parent company of American Employers Group Inc., has demanded that
American Employment Group of Sandy, Utah immediately cease and desist
use of its company name. The company name, American Employers Group,
is a federally registered service mark registered with the United
States Patent and Trademark office.
Applied Underwriters is a premier
workers' compensation and financial services company, founded in
1994 and headquartered in San Francisco, Calif. Its subsidiary,
American Employers Group Inc., offers an integrated package for
small- to mid-sized companies that includes workers’ compensation
insurance, employment practices insurance, payroll processing, coverage
warranties, and loss control services.
According to recent news reports in the Salt Lake Tribune and the
Staffing Industry Report, the completely unrelated entity, Utah-based
American Employment Group, Inc. received a formal Cease and Desist
order from the Utah Department of Insurance and has also recently
faced a class-action lawsuit.

action to enforce its trademark. We will vigorously defend against
any infringement of our trademarks or against any exploitation of
